The 49ers getting a chance to go to the Super Bowl should be bittersweet for Cardinals fans. While we don't typically like our NFC West foes from the Bay Area, it has allowed the Cardinals to gain a presence in Hawaii.
With San Francisco going to New Orleans, that means both NaVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis will be going with them and not to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. The lead alternate at the position just so happens to be Cardinals inside linebacker, Daryl Washington.
The move was confirmed by Cardinals VP of media relations, Mark Dalton.
SF advancing to Super Bowl means LBs N Bowman & P Willis out of Pro Bowl and Aloha to @azcardinals alternate Daryl Washington

The addition of Washington makes him one of two Cardinals player to be in the Pro Bowl. He joins cornerback Patrick Peterson, who is making his second straight appearance. Larry Fitzgerald was an alternate, but unless an injury or another situation precluding a player from participating comes about between now and next weekend, he will have to watch (or not watch) the game from home.
Congrats D-Wash! Now go represent the Cardinals in the most useless all-star game in all of pro sports.
