Jason Licht receives promotion from the Arizona Cardinals

Following the promotion of Steve Keim to GM, Jason Licht was promoted to VP of Player Personnel, taking Keim's old job.

USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals officially announced on Tuesday that they have promoted Jason Licht, the team's former Director of Player Personnel, to Vice President of Player Personnel. With that promotion, Licht now takes Steve Keim's old job, who was promoted to General Manager last week.

Per the press release from the Cardinals:

Licht (pronounced "LIGHT") re-joined the Cardinals last May as Director of Player Personnel after spending the 2008 season as the team's personnel executive. From 2009-2011 he served as the Director of Pro Personnel with the New England Patriots. He also spent five years as Philadelphia's Vice President of Player Personnel (2003-07) and was a member of New England's player personnel staff from 1999-2003.

The Cards have done a good job this offseason of promoting front office personnel already in the franchise to higher positions. Obviously, the same cannot be said for their coaching staff.

In his new role, Keim announced that Licht will play a larger part in personnel evaluation, both in college and the pros, as well as in contract negotiations. No word has leaked as to what his salary will be.

I guess people like working for the Cardinals more than we thought...
