NFL Draft fever is already pretty widespread, and the Super Bowl hasn't even been played. The Arizona Cardinals can only wait because that is all they have to look forward to. The question for fans everywhere is whether the Cards will take a quarterback with their first pick in the draft or select help on the offensive line.
So far in previous projections, quarterbacks Matt Barkley and Tyler Wilson have been the mock picks for Arizona, as well as guard Chance Warmack.
In Dan Kadar's latest projections for SB Nation, the pick is an offensive tackle, and for everyone's sake, we are hoping for no repeat of Leonard Davis or Levi Brown. Kadar predicts that Arizona will select Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher.
Every report from the Senior Bowl last week was that Fisher was the best player on the field. While he can't throw touchdowns for the Cardinals, he's a vast improvement over Nate Potter on the left side. Fisher excels in pass blocking and will only get better in the run game as he gets stronger.
While taking Fisher would not be a bad idea, Nate Potter was not dreadful, as the paragraph implies.
So the debate continues to be this -- take a quarterback or a lineman with the seventh pick in the draft.
I get the feeling that this will be discussed a lot between now and the draft.
