Cardinals vs. 49ers: Vote for the Week 6 player of the game

The Arizona Cardinals shot themselves in the foot with turnovers on Sunday against the NFC West-rival San Francisco 49ers. Four miscues did them in, and as a result, the Cardinals (3-3) are now tied for last place in the division.

There is still a long way to go in the 2013 season, but the team needs to get it together before things get out of hand.

That said, there were some great performances on both sides of the ball. Here are the candidates for ROTB player of the game for Week 6.

Karlos Dansby

Stats: 11 tackles, 3 passes defended, 1 QB hit, .5 sack

The return of inside linebacker played a part once again in Karlos Dansby's overall game on Sunday. He shared a sack with defensive end Calais Campbell because of Washington, as No. 58's presence in the middle left a wide-open lane for Dansby to get to quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

It's the third time Dansby has recorded double-digit tackles in the last four games, and he has at least eight tackles in every game this season.

He's quietly putting together a Pro Bowl-type season.

Larry Fitzgerald

Stats: 6 receptions, 117 yards, 19.5 YPC, 1 TD

Yes, Larry Fitzgerald lost his first fumble in almost exactly six years on Sunday that led to an embarrassing 18-play, game-sealing touchdown drive. But Fitz went to work against the 49ers, hauling in the second-longest touchdown of his career -- the 75-yard score came on a third down in the first quarter of a game that was in danger of getting out of hand.

It will be interesting to see if Fitz is able to play Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks. He has to be sore after his day of work. Hamstring injuries are tricky sometimes.

Tyrann Mathieu

Stats: 6 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 pass defended

This nomination goes beyond statistics. Rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu played well throughout, but his aggression toward the hated 49ers was great to see.

The kid just gets it. You're not supposed to play for the Cardinals and like the 49ers, and it showed early and often. He has been added to the long, unofficial list of hated Cardinals players in San Francisco for his style of play on Sunday. I, for one, cannot wait to see him against the enemy to end the season.

Andre Ellington

Stats: 7 carries, 56 yards, 8.0 YPC; 5 receptions, 36 yards, 7.2 YPC

Running back Rashard Mendenhall didn't play much of this game. Head coach Bruce Arians used a running-back-by-committee approach this week, for whatever reason, and Mendenhall's snap-count appeared to be the only one to decline because of it.

Still, though, he had more carries than Andre Ellington did. That is baffling when you consider the rookie sixth-round pick doubled Mendenhall's yards-per-carry average once again.

For the season, Ellington has carried 25 times for 176 yards (7.0 YPC) and a touchdown. Mendenhall sits at 79 carries for 259 yards (3.3 YPC) and two scores.

Darnell Dockett

Stats: 4 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 QB hit

It's quite possible no one hates the 49ers more than defensive end Darnell Dockett. He played a whale of a game on Sunday against his biggest foe -- though, he did get too aggressive on one occasion, drawing a personal foul flag for a late hit.

He's better than that, but let's not let one slip-up tarnish the game he had. He was in the backfield quite a bit, from what I saw.
