NFL picks against the spread, Week 5: Broncos to roll, Texans are big underdog pick

Our Week 5 selections against the Vegas spread.

Kevork Djansezian

Week 4 was a 9-6 week for me picking against the spread, bringing my overall record to 36-26-2.

What about Week 5? The Browns somehow won a game of attrition, with the battle of Brandon Weeden and Jeff Tuel.

Planning on placing a wager on one the Week 5 games? Here are my picks, not that you need my advice.

Saints at Bears (pick'em): The Saints have covered 11 of their last 12 games. They also look unstoppable, but Chicago at home is a team that can force turnovers. The Saints finally fall in Week 5. Pick: Bears.

Patriots at Bengals (-1): Cool fact -- When Bill Belichick's team is the underdog, they cover 67 percent of the time. Even without Rob Gronkowski playing, Tom Brady continues to be an amazing football player no matter the talent around him, it is always hard to pick against the Pats. Pick: Pats.

Lions at Packers (-7): The odds are stacked against the Lions. They are 0-22 in Green Bay, they are 4-17-1 straight up and Green Bay is 15-2 against the spread after a loss and 31-11 ATS against the NFC North. Pick: Packers.

Chiefs (-2.5) at Titans: Tennessee is without Jake Locker. Kansas City's defense is legit. With a small spread of 2.5, why wouldn't you go with the Chiefs? Alex Smith won't lose a game on his own. he has weapons. Pick: Chiefs.

Seahawks (-2.5) at Colts: This is the marquee matchup of young quarterbacks -- Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck. Seattle should have lost last week. After not believing in the Colts against the 49ers, I was proven wrong. Still, I just find it hard for such a tough and physical team like Seattle to lose. Also, they have covered 13 straight against winning teams. Pick: Seahawks.

Jaguars at Rams (-11.5): This is the biggest spread as favorites that the Rams have had in 10 years. Because of it, I don't like it because the Rams just aren't that good. The Jags are bad, but I don't think it will be a huge blowout this week. This is where I take the points and the Jags to lose by 10.

Ravens at Dolphins (-3): This is just a standard home advantage. However, after five interceptions, Joe Flacco is not going to have a two bad games in a row. Miami's 3-0 start was a mirage. Pick: Ravens

Eagles at Giants (-2): The Giants need a reset after being blanked by Cam Newton and company. Luckily they will play the Eagles and their terrible defense. New York gets right. Pick: Giants.

Panthers (-2) at Cardinals: The Panthers have the matchup to give the Cardinals fits, However, you can't count the Cards out at home, and they are 4-1 in their last five against the spread. Alert -- yes, a homer pick, but I am taking the Cardinals.

Broncos (-7) at Cowboys: Are the Broncos unbeatable? Well, one thing is in Dallas' favor -- they are 25-11 ATS as home underdogs. I'm still taking Denver.

Texans at 49ers (-6.5): The Texans will recover after a heartbreaking loss. Pick: Houston

Chargers (-4.5) at Raiders: Can you trust the Raiders? Nope. Plus, Philip River is playing very well again. Pick: Chargers.
