Arizona Cardinals: Karlos Dansby having 'legendary' season

His play makes his introductory statements not sound quite so crazy.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

When Karlos Dansby returned to the Arizona Cardinals this offseason, one of the things he said he wanted to accomplish while here was to "become legendary" and end up in the team's Ring if Honor.

At the time, it seemed like it was a tad on the ridiculous side, coming from a player that no one wanted to sign.

Now he has been one of the league's best free agent signings and he is on pace to have perhaps the finest season of his career.

Through eight games, he has 71 tackles, three sacks. a forced fumble, two interceptions and 10 passes defensed. Using simple math, this would project to 142 tackles, six sacks, four picks and 20 pass deflections. The tackles and interceptions would be career highs. The sacks would be the most since his eight in 2006. His 10 passes defensed is already a career high.

Playing alongside Daryl Washington, he has been making plays everywhere. He has been great in pass coverage.

It could be enough for him to earn his very first Pro Bowl berth.

The Cardinals, who have Kevin Minter in the wings, will have an important decision. Do they bring him back? One one hand, how could you not?

If he keeps up this play and has these type of stats, perhaps could he make legendary Cardinals status? He was one of the most important pieces to the winning Cardinals teams, along with Darnell Dockett and Adrian Wilson.

Is the Ring of Honor within reach?
