The Arizona Cardinals have made a pair of roster moves, as receiver Teddy Williams injured his Achilles, which will sideline him for the rest of the season. He was placed on season-ending injured reserve, and the team signed cornerback Bryan McCann.
McCann (5-11, 185) re-joins the Cardinals after spending the preseason with the team until he was released on September 1. McCann played in eight games with the Miami Dolphins last season where he collected 10 tackles and his first career sack. After entering the NFL with the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2010 out of SMU, McCann played in nine games as a rookie and had two touchdowns (101-yard INT return and 97-yard punt return) in addition to 15 tackles. In 2011, he played in 12 games with the Cowboys (two), Ravens (three) and Raiders (seven).
For his career, McCann has played in 29 games and has collected 29 tackles (26 solos), one interception, and three passes defensed.
McCann will wear jersey #23.
He has been a special teams contributor for both teams he has played for in the past. He has returned 13 punts and 39 kicks in three seasons.
if I had to guess, his role with Arizona will be on special teams, specifically as a gunner on punt returns, rather than as a returner. However, in his career, he has averaged over 15 yards a punt return and over 24 yards per kick return.
