Arizona Cardinals: 2nd half predictions for the team

The team is on bye halfway through their schedule. What are your new projections?

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals sit at 4-4 on their bye week. They will return to work this week and prepare for their home game against the Houston Texans. While the team and the players should not be looking ahead, we as fans certainly can.

Now that half the schedule is done, let us look ahead at what is left. in my preseason projections, I believed the Cardinals would end 9-7 and just outside of the playoffs. They would be in the race up until the end.

Here is how I see the rest of the schedule shaping up.

Week 10: The host the Houston Texans. I believe they win. (5-4)

Week 11: The travel to Jacksonville. This also should be a win. (6-4)

Week 12: They return home to host the Colts. While this looks rather similar to the situation when the Steelers came to town for Ken Whisenhunt's first season and the Cards defeated them, I think the Colts are going to win this game. (6-5)

Week 13: They travel to Philadelphia. Arizona wins. Their defensive speed keeps up with the Eagles offensive pace. The offense moves the ball well against the Philly swiss cheese defense. Arizona wins. (7-5)

Week 14: The return home to host the Rams. While the pass rush is still there, not having Sam Bradford dooms the Rams. Arizona wins, improving their record to 8-5.

Week 15: They travel to Tennessee and come out with a win. (9-5)

Week 16: They travel to Seattle. This is more or less an automatic loss. (9-6)

Week 17: The finish the season at home against the 49ers. A win would seal up a wild card spot. I see San Fran battling for the division lead. San Fran wins, the Cards just miss the playoffs. They end up 9-7.
