The Pro Bowl teams will be announced soon, and as such, many outlets are beginning to name their rosters. Pro Football Focus did recently, and a few Arizona Cardinals made the cut.
Not surprisingly, none of the four players that made the PFF Pro Bowl team were on the offensive side of the ball That sort of thing happens when you have a top 10 defensive unit. Three were defensive players and one made it on special teams.
On defense, PFF recognized defensive end Calais Campbell, linebacker Karlos Dansby and cornerback Patrick Peterson. Campbell's selection was a no-brainer, as his play this season "was never a question mark."
Dansby got the nod as a backup, a his his sacks and pass breakups lead his position.
Peterson was taken despite how he played against Kendall Wright, as they at PFF "see a cornerback who doesn't just man up with a team's top receiver, but quiets them down."
On special teams, is there a question. Of course it is Justin Bethel. "Simply put there isn't another special teamer like Bethel and our look at special teams units in more detail this year has really bore that out," they wrote. It could not be more true.
Did anyone else deserve a look? Larry Fitzgerald's numbers are still down. Michael Floyd has not bee consistent enough. John Abraham has been very good, but there are many pass rushers with better years overall.
When the actual teams are announced, how many do you expect? Will Campbell and Dansby get their first recognition after many good seasons? Will Bethel get the recognition he deserves?
It is always an interesting debate because there are always deserving players that get passed over. Will that happen with Arizona this year?
