On Wednesday, Howard Balzer, a sports reporter and Hall of Fame voter out of St. Louis, was the first to report that Cardinals running back Javarris James has been suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season due to a substance violation.

If you recall, Javarris James is the cousin of former Cards running back, Edgerrin James. Given the turmoil at the running back position last season, James may have figured to see some playing time or at least a roster spot on the 53-man team if not for his injury.
One has to wonder if James was even going to get a chance on this roster anyhow. He was invited to training camp under the old regime of Ken Whisenhunt and GM Rod Graves. Under the new blocking scheme that Bruce Arians' staff figures to install, James may not have even been a candidate to join the team.
And if it wasn't meant to be before, it certainly isn't now.
