Cardinals, Rashad Johnson strike new three-year deal

Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson will not get the chance to test the free agent market, as he has signed a new three-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

USA TODAY Sports

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the Arizona Cardinals have re-signed safety Rashad Johnson to a three-year contract.

No word has been leaked as to how much the contract is worth.

Re-signing Johnson became a priority for the Cardinals after they cut long time veteran Adrian Wilson earlier this week. Johnson began to take many snaps away from Wilson during the 2012 season and figures to come back as the starting strong safety alongside free safety, Kerry Rhodes.

The Cardinals will now likely attempt to re-sign Greg Toler before he hits the free agent market, where he is expected to have many suitors. If and when that happens, the secondary will still need some more depth, but will be on better standings than it was just a few hours ago.
