Cardinals Make Another Free Agent Addition

Not yet Official but multiple sources claiming it true.

USA TODAY Sports

O'Brien Schofield and Matt Shaughnessy were teammates at the University of Wisconsin. It was reported last night he was to meet with the Cardinals today, but whether he was to sign seemed slim. Today, Schofield broke the news that his friend and former teammate has decided to sign with the Cardinals. While we don't have a "twitpic" to make it official (Ian Rappaport reference) we do have Schofields and several sources claiming it to be true.

Shaughnessy stands pretty at 6'5, 285 pounds. The former 3rd round selection back in 2009, has only started all 16 games in a season once, and that was in 2012. In his career he has 123 combined tackles, 15.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. While these numbers don't jump out at you, they came in a limited role as a rotational player. It could be a prelude to a possible Darnell Dockett as some people have claimed, but it's more than likely a possible rotational fill between Campbell and himself.

Shaughnessy is reportedly going to receive a one year deal to prove himself, similar to Rashard Mendenhall.
