2013 NFL Draft results: Arizona Cardinals take a chance on Tryann Mathieu with 3rd round pick

With needs at OLB, Safety and Defensive Tackle the team goes unconventional and signs the controversial LSU Cornerback.

Arizona Cardinals went back- to-back LSU defenders with the 3rd round pick of CB Tyrann Matthieu, the highly gifted, yet questionable off the field talent.

Nicknamed "Honey Badger" because of his size and tenacity - had been a wild card in the draft after being kicked off the team last season and reportedly failing several drug tests. He had been living with his former teammate and current Cardinal, Patrick Peterson at his home this offseason.

Many had speculated because of the close relationship with Peterson that he might be drafted by the team, despite not the obvious openings available with the recent signings of Antoine Cason, Jerraud Powers and Brian McCann.

Obviously, this is a pick which will stoke the talk at the water cooler.

Was is it the proper one?

Supposedly he has a third round party planned.

That pick, unless the Cards trade back into the third round, will conclude Day 2 of the draft for Arizona.

After the pick he talked with ESPN's Trey Wingo:
