2013 NFL Draft Day 2 results: Recapping the picks and trades from Friday

A look back at what happened on Friday of the draft.

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Friday had a ton of stories going on, but some even keep going. Geno Smith and Manti Te'o finally were drafted, but after Smith, the only other quarterback to be drafted was Mike Glennon. Matt Barkley? He still is waiting for a team to pick him.

Smith goes to the Jets, who now have spoken loudly that Mark Sanchez is on the way out.

Te'o went with the pick that belonged to the Arizona Cardinals, but it was not the Cards that took him. Instead of selecting the Heisman Trophy finalist, the traded the spot to the San Diego Chargers, who scooped him up. Arizona moved down seven spots and picked up a different linebacker in Kevin Minter.

The other big stories? Alabama running back Eddie Lacy, who was considered by many to be the first running back to be drafted and was projected to go in the first round, did not get picked until the penultimate pick in the second round, but as a reward, he gets to play for the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. The jobs for both players just got easier because the other will be on the field at the same time.

In the third round, it was Tyrann Mathieu that became the name of the hour. He was taken by the Arizona Cardinals with the 69th pick, and he will team up with Patrick Peterson and Kevin Minter, both of whom were his teammates at LSU.

The trades of the day?

The Tennessee Titans traded up from 40 to 34 with the San Francisco 49ers to draft Tennessee receiver Justin Hunter.

The San Diego Chargers moved up from 45 to 38, making a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. they drafted Manti Te'o.

The 49ers, who moved down in the second round, them moved up later in the round and got Vance McDonald.

The Baltimore made a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, moving up from 62 to 56 to draft linebacker Arthur Brown.

The New Orleans Saints made the final deal of the day, trading with the Miami Dolphins to move up to pick 82 an draft John Jenkins.
