2013 NFL Draft results: Arizona Cardinals take Stepfan Taylor in the 5th round

Arizona brings in some running back talent.

Ezra Shaw

Over the past few years, the Arizona Cardinals have had success in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. On Saturday, with the 140th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, Arizona selected Stanford running back Stepfan Taylor.

Taylor is 5-9, 214 pounds. In four seasons at Stanford, he rushed for 4300 yards, averaging more than five yards per carry. he rushed for 1530 yards and 13 TDs in 2012. He is Stanford's all-time leader in rushing yards (4300) and touchdowns (43). He caught 97 passes in four season in addition to the rushing stats, and is considered one of the best blocking backs in this year's class.

This is important because Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians wants running backs that are three-down players -- guys that can run and block. The receiving ability is not necessary, though.

Taylor ran a slow 40-time at the NFL Combine at 4.76, but he is known for quick feet and running very hard. He is tough and should be a good fit for the team.
