Arizona Cardinals fifth round pick Stepfan Taylor was on the Doug and Wolf show on Monday afternoon talking about getting drafted by the Cardinals and how he will fit in and make a contribution this season.
Listen to Taylor's interview using the embedded player or clicking here to download directly.
We find out something interesting. The person he talked to about the Cardinals was not Bruce Arians or someone on the team Cardinals team. It was his former teammate, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, who ran Arians' offense last season.
Taylor learned that the Cardinals will run several plays that Taylor already knows because they ran some of the same plays at Stanford.
He just wants to get on the football field. "I just want to find a way on the field," he said on the radio.
He knows that his likely contribution will be on special teams to start, but he is very confident in what he can bring to the offense and how he fits.
"I think I'm a complete back," he told Doug and Wolf. "I try to take pride in being able to have as many weapons as possible."
He is the type of running back that Bruce Arians wants, but he is going to start out behind Rashard Mendenhall and Ryan Williams to start. Mendenhall and Williams have an injury history, so he might get his opportunity.
He is tough, he is durable and he is a very good pass blocker. If he lives up to his reputation, it might be hard to keep him off the field.
