The offseason has not been kind to Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl linebacker Daryl Washington. After being suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2013 season due to a violation of the league's substance abuse policy, FOX 10 in Phoenix is reporting that Phoenix Police are investigating Washington for domestic violence assault.
According to the report, "a woman who is Washington's ex-girlfriend told police she got into a fight with him and he choked her." She reportedly has marks on her neck.
The police is looking for Washington, although there is nothing in the report that says he will be arrested. At the very least, they want to question him.
If the report proves to be true, it could put him in danger of further disciplinary action by the NFL under their personal conduct policy.
Washington signed a big contract extension in 2012 that keeps him a Cardinal through 2017. However, his future with the team will not be a sure thing if these prove to be more than just accusations.
