2013 Arizona Cardinals training camp: Is Levi Brown's starting job in jeopardy?

One report says that the veteran left tackle did not stand out in offseason workouts.

USA TODAY Sports

Left tackle Levi Brown has long been the whipping boy for Arizona Cardinals fans. That short of changed in 2012 when he was lost for the season with a torn triceps. Then fans saw just how bad it could be. coming into this season, head coach Bruce Arians has already thrown the "elite" word around to describe Brown.

However, with a new report out there, maybe Arians will want those word back.

According to Fox Sports 910's Mike Jurecki, Brown might see Brown lose his starting job.

Could it be that the Cards are already willing to move on from there "elite" left tackle?

I, for one, am not quite on the same page as Jurecki, as much as I respect him. That isn't to say that it isn't true, but the actions we have seen thus far don't support it.

It is important to know that Brown did not hit the ground running, so to say, at the start of the offseason schedule. He did not start practicing right away, and the plan was to get him ready for training camp. So to say that he hasn't looked good yet is to be a bit premature when the plan was to have him ready for camp.

At the same time, there was no indication in OTAs or mini-camp that there was an issue. Yes, Arians brought up Nate Potter more than once. However, it was not with Brown that Potter was splitting reps at the end of mini-camp. It was Bobby Massie.

Of course, the explanation there was that Arians wanted Massie to get some reps at left tackle and Potter at right tackle, but Massie wasn't relieving Brown for a few reps. Brown stayed right where he was.

So, could Potter be pushing for a start at left tackle? It could be. But it is way too early to think that Brown's job is in jeopardy. It is as in jeopardy as any NFL player's situation.

I just don't see it...yet.
