Arizona Cardinals close camp; Ryan Williams and Jeff King return to practice and will play on Saturday

It took until the end, but it looks like Williams is going to get his reps in to make a final statement before final cuts

The Arizona Cardinals have closed up camp. Training camp in Glendale is over. And something happened -- players that have been out with injuries were suddenly able to practice. Running back Ryan Williams, who missed the last couple of weeks with lingering knee pain, was back on the practice field and will play against San Diego.

The same goes for tight end Jeff King, who had not practiced pretty much all of the offseason after knee surgery.

In injury list shrank. Dan Williams is back practicing, joining Ryan Williams and King. Andre Roberts had missed time with an ankle injury, but is back on track. The only injuries of note, as noted on the team's official site, were Jarrett Dillard, who has a concussion, Joe Caprioglio (toe), QB Caleb TerBush (not disclosed) and then Dan Giordano is still on PUP.

Ryan Williams apparently was inspired (encouraged, coerced) into getting back on the field y general manager Steve Keim, according to Darren Urban. Williams called it a "pep talk," and said that Keim told him how much he and the coaches want to see him on the field. Williams said he trusts Keim completely.

So he will get his chances against the Chargers and then next week against the Broncos to make his case for the final roster.

It still looks, to me, that the team is giving him a break and they completely plan on keeping him around. Bruce Arians said he would keep four or five running backs, but "probably five." They have five on the roster now.

King's return could solidify the tight end position, where the team has gotten virtually no production.

Roster cuts are coming, as rosters have to be trimmed to 75 by Monday. so undoubtedly there is some urgency; however, it isn't really more than what Williams has felt.

Here what he said to the press after practice:

Does Williams have enough to show off in these two remaining game?
