It is Week 2. The early games on Sunday feature a few good matchups. You get Bears/Vikings and it always seems that an NFC North game is a good one. You get RG3 and Aaron Rodgers. After a 7-8-1 Week 1, these are my picks against the Vegas spread.
Rams at Falcons (-6.5): The Falcons return home after a Week 1 loss. Matt Ryan is very good at home and the Falcons are 20-3 against the spread after a loss. Pick: Falcons, -6.5.
Panthers (-2.5) at Bills: Cam Newton and company played a tough Seahawks team very close. Buffalo will not prove to be quite the opponent. Pick: Panthers, -2.5.
Vikings at Bears (-6.0): The Bears are heavy home favorites. It is interesting. They stole a win last week against the Bengals. Now they face Adrian Peterson and the team that lost to the Lions. Look for Peterson to bounce back and do more than one great carry. Will they pull out the straight up win? Not likely, but this will be a nail biter like the Bengals game for Chicago. Pick: Vikings, +6.0.
Redskins at Packers (-7.5): Robert Griffin looked rusty against the Eagles. Green Bay could not beat the 49ers. Fortunately for the Packers, they are 14-2 against the spread after a loss against the spread. Add that to being home and you have a recipe for a get better win. Pick: Packers, -7.5.
Dolphins at Colts (-2.5): Andrew Luck and friends were fortunate to pull out a win against the lowly Raiders. Miami was the beneficiary of some terrible Brandon Weeden throws. Unfortunately, Luck is not Weeden. Pick: Colts, -2.5.
Cowboys at Chiefs (-3): Alex Smith threw for three touchdowns in a Week 1 win. Tony Romo expects to play after getting hit hard in Dallas. While KC historically is good at Arrowhead, look for Romo to play well and steal the win straight up. Pick: Cowboys. +3.
Chargers at Eagles (-7.5): Philly looked unstoppable for almost a half of football. So did San Diego. There is now some film on Chip Kelly's pace. I expect Philly to start string again, but to also see San Diego respond. This will not be a blowout. Random fact: the opponent Philadelphia has played in its home opener the last four seasons has gone on to win the last four Super Bowls! Pick: Chargers, +7.5.
Browns at Ravens (-6.5): The Browns are still the Browns and Brandon Weeden is not as good as Joe Flacco. Pick: Ravens, -6.5.
Titans at Texans (-9.0): Houston started slowly but showed their true colors after that. They are good. They are at home, too. Easy choice. Big win for J.J. Watt and friends. Pick: Texans, -9.0.
