The numbers are out for playing time, as released each week by the NFL. According to the snap counts, there were 58 defensive snaps (57 official defensive plays) and 71 offensive snaps (66 offensive plays) for the Arizona Cardinals.
How was that playing time divvied up?
Offensively, as it tend to always be, the whole starting offensive line and quarterback Carson Palmer played all 71 snaps.
Among the running backs, Rashard Mendenhall was in the game for 36 plays, Andre Ellington for 18, Alfonso Smith for 17 and Stepfan Taylor for five. Interestingly, Mendenhall touched the ball 17 of those 36 snaps and Ellington did so six of his 18.
Michael Floyd led the receivers with 67 snaps. Andre Roberts was in for 53, Larry Fitzgerald for 46 (he did not play late in the game), Kerry Taylor 17 and Jaron Brown 13. Patrick Peterson also had five offensive plays.
Tight end Jim Dray played 59 snaps and Kory Sperry played 13.
D.C. Jefferson, Nate Potter and Bradley Sowell each played the two snaps at the goalline when they went with a super jumbo package.
Defensively, four players saw all 58 snaps. Peterson, Rashad Johnson, Jerraud Powers and Karlos Dansby never left the field.
The most rotating came from the defensive line. Calais Campbell led the way with 52. Darnell Dockett had 44. Matt Shaugnessy had 22. Dan Williams only played 15 snaps. Frostee Rucker player 14 snaps and Ronald Talley 11.
The linebackers' snaps were led by Dansby's 58. John Abraham had 33, Lorenzo Alexander 26, Sam Acho 23 and Jasper Brinkley only 14.
Among the DBs, aside from Powers, Peterson and Johnson, Yeremiah Bell was out there for 52 plays, many line up as a linebacker. Tyrann Mathieu was in there for 53 plays and Tony Jefferson saw 47 snaps of the 58.
