The Arizona Cardinals made a couple of roster moves, getting their practice squad back to eight players, including two receivers. After Kerry Taylor was promoted to the 53-man roster on Saturday, on Monday the team replaced his spot on the squad and changed another.
They signed receiver Dan Buckner, who was in training camp with the team, to the practice squad, as well as receiver Brittan Golden. to make room, receiver Sam McGuffie was released.
Buckner (6-4, 215) rejoins the Cardinals after spending training camp with the team prior to being released on August 30. A rookie free agent from the University of Arizona, Buckner caught 103 passes for 1,379 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons with the Wildcats. In 2012, he started all 13 games and was Arizona's second-leading receiver with 61 receptions for 773 yards and five touchdowns.
Golden (5-11, 186) spent the preseason with the Chicago Bears until he was released on August 30. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Chicago in 2012 out of West Texas A&M and spent three weeks of his rookie season on the Jacksonville practice squad. At West Texas A&M, Golden finished second in school history with 3,007 receiving yards and fifth with 165 receptions to go along with 33 touchdowns.
What this means is that, at least for the immediate future, Kerry Taylor gets to stick around on the 53-man roster after collecting three receptions on Sunday in place of Larry Fitzgerald.
Taylor was added to the roster from the practice squad to give depth at the receiver position because of Larry Fitzgerald's balky hamstring. Cornerback Jamell Fleming was waived to make room for Taylor. Fleming has since been claimed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
