NFL power rankings: Cards steadily climb the rankings ladder

Where are the Cardinals ranked around the Internet?

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals got their first win of the 2013 campaign, which means they have to have gone up in the power rankings, right? Well, let us check the great Interwebz and find what the truth is.

Right here on our site, the latest ratings put the Cards at number 20, three slots up from last week.

What about SB Nation, our parent site? They have the Cardinals moving up four spots from 26 to 22. However, Ryan Van Bibber gets cute with his commentary:

Why didn't the Cardinals just make Patrick Peterson the quarterback last year?

ESPN also has the Cardinals with a four place improvement. They are now ranked 21st. That doesn't come without some concerns, though.

What happened to the Cardinals' pass rush? Arizona has one sack this year, tied for the lowest in the league. Arizona had multiple sacks in 10 games last year.

This is definitely a reason to worry. Of course, with Daryl Washington coming back in two weeks, this may improve once he returns.

In CBS Sports' new rankings, by Pete Prisco, gives the Cards a bump -- five slots to 20th overall. His take is positive for the Cards, citing how close they are to 2-0.

If not for a fourth-quarter collapse in St. Louis in Week 1, they would be 2-0. The offense certainly looks much improved with Carson Palmer.

FOX Sports gives them the smallest jump. They move up two slots to 23. Carson Palmer is making an impact.

Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer have made an immediate impact on this offense. The 25 points they scored on Sunday would have been the Cardinals' third-highest output in all of the 2012 season.

If Arizona can scratch out a win in New Orleans, how much more will they go up? Conversely, will they drop again after a loss?
