The Thursday night pick did not work out, but now it is time to give our against the spread selections for the games on Sunday. Will Vegas get the best of me? I don't think so, but then again, I don't actually place wagers on any games.
Packers (-2.5) at Bengals: Despite the start by the Bengals, after rolling against Washington, Aaron Rogers is in rhythm. More points. Give up the points and take Packers by at least a touchdown.
Rams at Cowboys (-4.0): Dallas is terrible against the spread. Over the last four seasons, almost three out of every four underdog covers. They have only covered four of their last 20 homes games in which they have covered. Does that matter? Nope. I have the Cowboys giving up the four points.
Chargers at Titans (3.0): This is just the standard home team advantage. San Diego, even though it tries to beat itself, is coming around. And I trly don't trust Tennessee. Pick: Chargers, +3.0.
Browns at Vikings (-6.0): Cleveland is in full tank mode after the Trent Richardson trade and the move to start Brian Hoyer at QB. Do you really think Cleveland will cover? Nope, not me. Pick: Vikings, -6.0.
Buccaneers at Patriots (-7.0): We may see the Gronk back for the Pats. What is worse is that teams are 45-77 against the spread after playing the Saints. Tampa's defense is solid, but adding Gronkowski will make things easier. Pick: Pats, -7.0.
Cardinals at Saints (-7.5): AZ is 2-0 ATS. They like to keep games close. I don't know if they will win, but with a line of over a touchdown, take the points. Pick: Cards, +7.5.
Lions at Redskins (-1.5): Can you trust the Skins yet? I don't, and I think Matthew Stafford goes off..Washington can't stop anyone. Lions in a blowout.
Giants at Panthers (-1.0): Not much of a line, but the Panthers have to win sometime. Plus, the Giants aren't pressuring QBs. Cam Newton will be able to pick them apart.
Texans (-2.5) at Ravens: Baltimore is the underdog? They just don't look right without Anquan Boldin. Texans with a solid win.
Falcons at Dolphins (-2.0): Miami has been one very tough team so far, but being favored against one of the league's best offenses? I'm not buying it. Pick: Falcons +2.0.
Bills at Jets (-2.0): Ew. Don't bet this game. You have two rookie quarterbacks and teams in disarray. I have the Jets, but only because they are at home.
Colts at 49ers (-10.5): The Colts defense is just not very good. San Fran is going to be ready to get the Seattle loss out of their system. I normally don't like big lines, but I expect the Niners to win in a big way. Pick: Niners, -10.5.
Jaguars at Seahawks (-19.0): Normally I run from a line this big, but the Jags just have no offense at all. Seattle blew out the Niners at home, who are a VERY talented team. I expect nothing less than a blowout of similar proportions. Seahawks, -19.0 is where I would put my money.
Bears (-2.5) at Steelers: Interesting fact -- this is the first week ever in which both the Steelers and the Ravens are underdogs. While Ben Roethlisberger is 11-3 ATS after a 10-point or more loss, this looks like a bad year for the Steelers. Take the Bears and give up the points
