NFL inactives, Week 4: Rashad Johnson inactive for Cardinals; Jackson, Williams to play for Bucs

A look at who will not be dressing for today's game.

The Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released their inactive lists, as teams can only dress 46 players on game day.

For the Arizona Cardinals, the biggest news is that starting safety Rashad Johnson, who suffered a severed fingertip in last week's game against the New Orleans Saints, will not dress. Head coach Bruce Arians stated that whether or not he plays would be determined by his pain tolerance. However, doctors did not clear him to play.

Replacing Johnson in the starting lineup will be rookie Tyrann Mathieu. Starting Mathieu will also affect the nickel defense package. Last week, Mathieu would slide down to the inside corner position and Javier Arenas would come in at safety.

Starting nose tackle Dam Williams also is inactive and is absent, as his family held the funeral for his father.

For Tampa Bay, quarterback Josh Freeman is inactive, while receivers Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams, who missed significant practice time this week because of injury, will play.

Here are the Arizona inactives:

  • S Rashad Johnson
  • QB Ryan Lindley
  • T Bobby Massie
  • LB Kevin Minter
  • G Earl Watford
  • NT Dan Williams
  • RB Ryan Williams
Here are Tampa's:
  • CB Michael Adams
  • G Gabe Carimi
  • TE Tom Crabtree
  • QB Josh Freeman
  • DT Derek Landri
  • CB Rashaan Melvin
  • DE Trevor Scott
