Daryl Washington expected to receive suspension in 2014

The Arizona Cardinals just got Pro Bowl linebacker Daryl Washington back from the the four game suspension he received under the NFL's substance abuse policy. However, his trouble in the league is not over.

ESPN's Adam Schefter is now reporting that Washington will be facing more league discipline, but it will be next season.

Washington was arrested in the offseason related to a domestic incident with an ex-girlfriend, one in which the girl ended up with a broken collarbone. His case is still pending and is scheduled to have his next hearing in October.

Washington has returned to team activities and will start on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Depending on what could happen with Washington, it could be an interesting offseason once again. Washington's contract was redone in a fashion that pushed a $10 million option bonus to 2014. The team may decide to cut ties with the young linebacker. If they did, it would be quite the statement.

If this report is true, and it makes sense based on what NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has done in the past with players in legal trouble, the Cardinals have a very important decision to make this coming offseason. The best thing he can do now that he has returned is to make that decision as difficult as possible with his play on the field.
