Another within the Arizona Cardinals organization is getting recognition. This time it is general manager Steve Keim, who was named PFT's Executive of the Year.
Arizona fans are very aware of the work he did. He overhauled the roster of a team that lost 11 of its last 12 games in 2012. He acquired Carson Palmer, who despite the interceptions, led the team to 10 wins and put up one the best quarterback seasons the team has ever had.
He picked up veterans Karlos Dansby, Eric Winston and John Abraham on the cheap. Abraham is a Pro Bowler and Dansby probably should have been. He had the best season of his 10-year career.
He landed two of the steals of last year's draft in Tyrann Mathieu and Andre Ellington.
He made tough decisions against the salary cap, trading Levi Brown and cutting Kevin Kolb and Adam Snyder.
Combined with the coaching of Bruce Arians and the play of the players, the Cardinals improved from 5-11 to 10-6.
For Cardinals fans, this recognition for Keim was a no-brainer.
