I have been wrong about a lot of things in my lifetime, poking a bee hive with a 10-foot long stick thinking bees are stupid so they won't know it's me comes to mind.... but I am almost never wrong about football.
In the summer of 2012, Peyton Manning was making a tour of duty trying to find out where he should finish his career, with one of his stops being here in Arizona. I remember thinking that we need to try and get him before Kolb was due his roster bonus, by any means necessary. Peyton Manning is a great QB and my analysis of him was spot on, he would recover, and be good again, I believe we have all seen that in his level of play in Denver.
That being said, I was so completely wrong about trying to get him to come here, because at the end of the day we would of paid him huge, amounts of money , to get murdered behind a bad line that first year, and this year we would not be able to sign the people we need to sign to keep this core defense intact.
If we had signed him last year, and the team somehow were able to go 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 (because i think Peyton would have made that big of difference vs 5-11 )how would things of turned out. Ken Whisenhunt would still be the coach this year, and we would not be able to see the greatness that is Steve Keim and Bruce Arians. We would now be facing an even worse cap situation and probably still wouldn't of been enough to win a Super Bowl.
So at the end of the day I must say that I was wrong about the need for the Cardinals to get Peyton Manning. I like the position they are in now. We have a better coach and front office, we have a good, young D, we are playing football that gets me jacked up every single day. I can't wait until next year to watch the cardinals punch Seattle, and SF in the mouth.
