Bruce Arians praises Bobby Massie, calls out Jared Veldheer, guards

Arians discusses the offensive line play.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was on the air on Arizona Sports 98.7 and spoke with hosts Dan Bickley and Vince Marotta about the play of the offensive line on Sunday against the Washington Redskins.

Right tackle Bobby Massie got a game ball for his play, grading "90 percent against one of the best players in the league in Ryan Kerrigan."

Arians said "it was not his best game" for left tackle Jared Veldheer. "(Brian) Orakpo was getting him pretty good and he lost his technique," he said.

While he said the line "protected pretty solid," he did have some concern with the play of his guards Ted Larsen and Paul Fanaika.

"We're still giving up too many negative plays (in the running game)," he said. "Our guards, when they're pulling, are just not doing a good job. That's something we've got to look at."

It hasn't sounded like there will be any changes in the starting lineup, but guard Jonathan Cooper still is on the bench. One of his strong suits is supposedly being able to get out and pull the way Arians wants his guards to do in the running game.

How do you feel the line played on Sunday?
