Arizona Cardinals bring back DT Bruce Gaston

The undrafted rookie stays with the team.

The Arizona Cardinals added a practice squad player on Monday, as they had promoted running back Kerwynn Williams to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

The man who was cut to make room for Williams, defensive tackle Bruce Gaston, was added to the practice squad to round out that group.

Gaston (6-2, 310) was released from the Cardinals active roster on Saturday. He was inactive for four games this season after he was signed to the 53-man roster on September 24. Gaston spent the preseason with the Cardinals after signing with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Purdue. He was released by the Cardinals in their final roster cut on August 30 and was claimed off waivers by the Patriots. Gaston was then released by New England on September 3 and claimed by Miami where he was inactive for the first two games of the season.

In other moves I don't think I updated you on, the team added running back Zach Bauman to the practice squad, who was with the team all through training camp. Cornerback Anthony Gaitor was released to make room for him.

Bauman originally signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Northern Arizona in May. The Chandler, AZ native and Hamilton High School graduate spent training camp with the Cardinals until he was released on August 30.

While at NAU, Bauman set Lumberjack all-time records for rushing yards, all-purpose yards and TDs. In his career, he totaled 5,132 rushing yards, 1,181 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns while posting 25 100-yard rushing games.

Also, early last week, they released receiver Jalen Saunders, whom they had signed to the practice squad in early October. To replace him, they added receiver Solomon Patton.

Patton (5-9, 177) played in six games with the Buccaneers this season after signing with Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Florida. He played mainly as a returner, totaling 17 kickoff returns for 393 yards (23.1 avg.) and 10 punt returns for 112 yards (11.2 avg.). Patton also had one rushing attempt for 19 yards.

He played in 43 games in four seasons (2010-13) at Florida, catching 52 passes for 635 yards and six touchdowns for his career and earned team MVP honors as a senior.

The practice squad now looks like this:
