The Arizona Cardinals announced on Tuesday defensive lineman Ed Stinson was placed on injured reserve, ending his season. Stinson had been nursing a toe injury back to help and had a setback. He will not be able to play during the postseason.
To replace him on the roster, the team promoted receiver Brittan Golden to the active roster from the practice squad. Then, to fill the spot on the practice squad previously occupied by Golden, Arizona re-signed running back Zach Bauman to the practice squad.
The Cardinals have their depth tested again, but with the recent return of linebacker Matt Shaughnessy, the snaps Stinson would play were drastically reduced. Stinson played only a handful of snaps on Sunday. Josh Mauro now play any snaps Stinson would have.
Golden (5-11, 186) played in five games with the Cardinals last season and had four receptions for 136 yards (34.0 yard avg.). He was released by the team following the preseason on August 30, and was re-signed to the practice squad the following day where he has spent the season.
He originally joined the Cardinals practice squad in 2013 after he was released by the Chicago Bears following the preseason. Golden entered the league as a rookie free agent with Chicago in 2012 out of West Texas A&M and spent three weeks of his rookie season on the Jacksonville practice squad.
Golden will wear jersey #10.
In addition, the Cardinals have re-signed running back ZACH BAUMAN to the practice squad.
Bauman (5-10, 200) originally signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Northern Arizona in May. The Chandler, AZ native and Hamilton High School graduate spent training camp with the Cardinals until he was released on August 30. He was re-signed to the team's practice squad on October 28 and played there until he was released on November 12.
While at NAU, Bauman set Lumberjack all-time records for rushing yards, all-purpose yards and TDs. In his career, he totaled 5,132 rushing yards, 1,181 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns while posting 25 100-yard rushing games.
