Week 16 saw the NFC playoff picture settle in nicely. After Saturday's and Sunday's games, five of the playoff spots are set. The Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys all clinched playoff berths, while the Arizona Cardinals already clinched in Week 15.
The Cowboys have locked up the NFC East title. The Seahawks, by defeating the Cardinals 35-6, took over the lead in the NFC West by virtue of a head-to-head tiebreaker.
The NFC standings now look like this:
1. Seattle Seahawks (11-4)
2. Detroit Lions (11-4)
3. Dallas Cowboys (11-4)
4. Carolina Panthers (6-8-1)
5. Green Bay Packers (11-4)
6. Arizona Cardinals (11-4)
In the mix: Atlanta Falcons (6-9)
Green Bay holds a common opponents record tiebreak of Arizona. They are 2-2 against the Lions, Eagles, Falcons and Seahawks. Arizona is 2-3 against those same opponents.
Heading into Week 17, the number four seed will be determined when the Panthers and Falcons play one another. The winner wins the division and the other is eliminated.
The Seahawks will clinch the top seed and the NFC West with a win at home over the St. Louis Rams. If they lose and the Cardinals win in San Francisco, then Arizona will win the NFC West.
The Lions and Packers play one another in Week 17 and that will determine the NFC North champion.
Dallas already has its division won.
