NFL free agency: Arizona Cardinals 'very interested' in Jared Veldheer

The rumors are beginning to fly.

USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals have reported interest in offensive linemen Branden Albert and Rodger Saffold. Albert is supposedly their top priority, but a recent report says that he is most likely going end up signing with the Miami Dolphins.

However, Arizona Republic beat writer Kent Somers tweeted that Arizona has high interest in another offensive lineman -- Oakland Raiders left tackle Jared Veldheer.

Somers cited Veldheer's age (at 26, he is three years younger than Albert) and price tag (Somers tweeted he would "probably" be less expensive).

However, that might not be the case, there was a reported offer made to Veldheer by Oakland worth five years and $55 million, with $23 million guaranteed.

Veldheer played in only five games in 2013, as he suffered a tron triceps in August. He was placed on the league's short-term injured reserve and returned for the team's final five games.

According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed one sack and 13 hurries in those five games. He was graded -0.1 in pass blocking and -3.1 in run blocking.

Veldheer is a veteran of four seasons. He is 6-8, 321 pounds. He was the Raiders' third round pick in 2010.
