Another week and we do yet another full draft simulation for the Arizona Cardinals. Using FanSpeak's premium simulator and Walter Football's big board, I ran all seven rounds and picked for the Arizona Cardinals.
There were a few strange picks by the computer -- such as Notre Dame offensive lineman Zack Martin being drafted third overall, but after that it seemed reasonable.
I made one trade, but it was later in the draft. I traded out of the fourth round when no one wowed me that was on the board. I sent the Falcons the fourth round pick and picked up their fifth round and sixth round picks (the sixth and seventh picks of those rounds).
Here are the results (results of the entire draft here):
Round 1: Dee Ford, pass rusher, Auburn
I could have gotten Calvin Pryor or a cornerback or even Ryan Shazier. I chose the pass rusher that didn't have size concerns.
Round 2: Troy Niklas, TE, Notre Dame
Bruce Arians loves the tight end position and Niklas is a BIG target. He's a better prospect than anyone currently on the roster.
Round 3: A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama
Deone Bucannon somehow fell to here, but rather than the safety, I went with the QB of the future. I like McCarron's overall game and his anticipation. It translates well to the pros. Drafting a QB here means that there is no rush to start him. I'm looking at 2015 with this selection.
Round 5: Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech and James Hurst, OT, North Carolina
Exum is projected by many to be a solid safety. He is compared to Antrel Rolle. When James Hurst was around with teh 20th pick of the round, I had to draft him. It adds more talent to the right tackle position, which is needed.
Round 6: Josh Huff, WR, Oregon and Bryan Stork, C, Florida State
Huff is a speed receiver that fits the Bruce Arians mold. Picking Stork is looking ahead to replace Lyle Sendlein.
...
What do you think of the picks. Obviously McCarron over Bucannon will get some discussion, but Bucannon in the third round is probably not feasible anyway. Which picks do you like? Which do you not like?
