The NFL has released their 2014 preseason schedule and you can now mark your calendars for the four exhibition games. For the first time in what seems forever, they will not play the Denver Broncos. Of course, this is because they are playing Denver in the regular season.
That reasoning apparently did not apply to the Chargers, though, as the two teams will meet in the preseason and in the regular season.
The preseason schedule and it features a nationally-televised Sunday Night Football game on NBC at University of Phoenix Stadium against Cincinnati in week three on Sunday, August 24 at 5:00 PM (MST).
The Cards will open their ninth season at University of Phoenix Stadium in week one of the preseason against Houston. That game will mark head coach Bill O'Brien's debut with the Texans, who also currently have the #1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft. It will be the Cardinals third-ever preseason game against Houston and first since 2010.
In week two, the Cardinals travel to Minnesota to play at TCF Bank Stadium, the Vikings temporary home the next two seasons while Vikings Stadium is being built. Arizona returns home in week three for the previously mentioned Sunday Night Football game against the Bengals on NBC. Specific dates and times for the first two games have not yet been announced.
Like all games in the final week of preseason, Arizona plays on Thursday, August 28 (TIME TBA) when they take on the Chargers in San Diego. It will mark the Cardinals first preseason visit to San Diego since 2003. Arizona has hosted San Diego the previous five preseason meetings.
The 2014 regular season schedule is expected to be announced later this month. It includes home games against the Eagles, Redskins, Chiefs, Chargers and Lions in addition to the normal divisional contests against the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers.
