NFL power rankings: Arizona Cardinals crack top 10

Arizona looks strong and something about nachos and Adrian Wilson.

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

It is the offseason, so there will be early overanalysis. With the NFL Draft over, that means we have tos ee some updated power rankings.

In the latest offseason power rankings on NFL.com, written by Elliott Harrison, the Arizona Cardinals manage to crack the top 10 in the league, leapfrogging the Carolina Panthers

Oh, and he writes a couple of strange food analogies. The bottom line is that someone likes new Cardinals safety Deone Bucannon.

If you dug Adrian Wilson's nachos, you're gonna be all hot dogs and apple pie about safety Deone Bucannon, Arizona's choice at No. 27. This dude will be able to make plays near the line of scrimmage and in coverage. Plus he can tackle, which is kind of cool in a league that has devolved into grab, grab, grab. By the way, Deone is pronounced "DAY-own." Wanted you to know in case you're asked to sound it out at one of Matt Leinart's hot tub parties.

It's still early to judge the Bucannon pick in terms of real analysis, but you have to be excited about the physical talent he has. Is he an Adrian Wilson? That's what people are hoping. But it does look like he will have an impact on the defense from Day 1, whether that is as a starter or as a rotational player.

As for team rankings, Arizona is the third NFC West team in the top 10. Would you put them above any of the other nine teams above them -- Eagles, Packers, Chiefs, Colts, Saints, Patriots, Broncos, 49ers and Seahawks?
