There has been a lot of chatter on Twitter about the status of the right side of the Arizona Cardinals offensive line. To start offseason drills and now OTAs, it was Paul Fanaika and Bradley Sowell who have been running with the first team at right guard and right tackle.
It does make sense, as both players were starters on the line in 2013.
However, it now appears that the competition for those starting jobs have begun in earnest. According to AZCardinals.com reporter Darren Urban, Earl Watford and Bobby Massie both got work in with the first team offensive line.
OTAs resume again next week, but with that tidbit, one would think that Fanaika and Watford will split first team snaps at right guard and Sowell and Massie will do the same at right tackle. That will probably be the plan until one player pulls away from the other.
Most fans seem to be hoping for both Watford and Massie because of their youth and athleticism. It would also mean that the team is developing its draft picks well.
We will keep an eye on the reps each gets, at least in terms of whether one guy or another is exclusively with the first unit or whether they split snaps.
