The Arizona Cardinals began another round of OTAs on Tuesday. Not everybody was able to practice. One notable absence was first round draft pick Deon Bucannon. He sat out with "a little turf toe," according to head coach Bruce Arians. He said it was nothing serious and that he suffered it during rookie mini-camp.
He wasn't the only one to sit out.
John Abraham was not there, but is not participating on OTAs, with the blessing of the head coach. I saw him arrive at the end of practice wearing a suit.
Rookie tight end Troy Niklas is still out recovering from hernia surgery.
ESPN reporter Josh Weinfuss noted players that were on the side at the start of practice. They included Alameda Ta'amu (recovering from ACL surgery) and Tyrann Mathieu (recovering from ACL and LCL surgery.
Weinfuss also noted RB Zach Bauman, RB Andre Ellington, WR Kelsey Pope, CB Teddy Williams, OLB Matt Shaughnessy, G/C Anthony Steen and WR Walt Powell all either on the exercise bikes to start or doing work to the side without a helmet.
Arians said that several young players had suffered tissue injuries. They need to work on their conditioning and working outside in the heat will help.
