2014 NFL Draft: Can Deone Bucannon become Adrian Wilson....part deux?

Looking at Deone Bucannon and what we hope he can live up to.....no pressure buddy.

Jonathan Daniel

Adrian Wilson was drafted in the third round, 64th selection.  The fifth safety taken that year ushered in a new era of safety for 10 years in the Cardinals organization and really revolutionized the position.  He was able to fill that tweener gap and blitz and put on pressure or cover deep and hit the tight ends, really, really, hard.

His measurables coming out of NC State, 6'-3" 213 lbs,4.45 40 time, very hard hitter, good tackler, and a very hard work ethic.  All he did in his NFL Career 893 Tackles, 25.5 sacks, 27 interceptions, 14 forced fumbles, 5x Pro Bowler, one of 6 people in the 25-25 club. It was by many accounts, a Ring of Honor career, if not a HOF career.

Deone Bucannon's measurables coming out of Washington St.  are 6'-1", 211 lbs, 4.49 40 time, very hard hitter, good tackler, and a very hard work ethic, (oh yeah, and three-time captain at Washington State).  What does this all translate to? Maybe nothing, but, who knows? The pick could be a bust, or he could turn into an aggressive, blitzing safety that is able to hit people so hard that they don't want to catch the passes over the middle of the field.

His first year in the NFL he is going to never be left on an island by himself as he has two shut down corners, and the Honey Badger coming back (hopefully) and this is going to be the perfect environment to start his career.  We just took one of our biggest holes on defense and shoved a huge cork in it with this pick......

Oh yea and Steve Keim got a third round pick with him. Let's see what that nets us....
