The Arizona Cardinals will kick off in their regular season opener in 23 days.
As we continue to count down day by day, we now look at No. 23 and the players that have worn it.
Cornerback Bryan McCann wears 23 right now. He was signed late last season to play special teams after Teddy Williams tore his Achilles. He was re-signed and is battling for a roster spot with Williams.
In 2012 and training camp of 2013, it was the number that cornerback Jamell Fleming wore. Fleming was drafted in the third round in 2012 and started out great. He made plays and was doing very well in coverage. However, his playing time diminished and his defensive coordinator called him out for his effort in practice. He was cut at the end of training camp last year with the new coaching staff. He signed with the Jaguars after that.
Safety Hamza Abdullah wore 23 in 2011. He had previously worn 41 and 21. He was a key special teams player, but did upset some Cardinals fans when he commented on the many opposing fans in the stadium one game.
Cornerback Trumaine McBride wore 23 in 2010. He came as a free agent and was a solid special teams player. He had 16 tackles and a pass deflection that season.
Cornerback Darrell Hunter wore in 2006. He played only that one season in the NFL and appeared in three games.
