2014 NFL countdown: The history of No. 14 (two weeks until the Cardinals open their season)

There are only two weeks until the Arizona Cardinals open the regular season on Monday Night Football.

14 days. That's it.

Let's look at the uninspiring history of the number 14.

It was most recently worn by quarterback Ryan Lindley, who enters his third season. He was a sixth round pick in 2012 and, because of injuries and awful QB play, ended up starting four games his rookie season. The only touchdowns that resulted from his throws were interceptions returned for touchdowns. He made the roster in 2013 and lost his job to rookie Logan Thomas.

Before Lindley, in 2011, it was QB Brodie Croyle, brought in as a fourth QB in training camp. He was gone by first cuts.

Receiver Stephen Williams wore it in 2011 as well. He made the team but was not heard from during the season. He didn't have a single reception that year.

Chris Griesen wore it in 2000. He was a backup QB. He was 6/10 for 65 yards and a TD in three games. Impressive.

He was the first guy to wear 14 in Arizona. We have to go all the way back to St. Louis for the next guy.
