2014 NFL roster cuts: Arizona Cardinals reportedly released Bryan McCann

Does this open the door for Teddy Williams?

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The rumors of roster cuts are now beginning to filter on through the Internet and a fifth player the Arizona Cardinals have reportedly let go is cornerback Bryan McCann.

According to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss, McCann was released by the team on Friday.

McCann was signed last season after Teddy Williams tore his Achilles. He was re-signed and it was believed that the last cornerback spot on the roster would go either to him or to Williams (who converted back to cornerback from receiver in the offseason).

It appears, at least for now, that Williams now has the inside track to make the final 53. The top four are set -- Patrick Peterson, Antonio Cromartie, Jerraud Powers and Justin Bethel.

One would assume they will keep a fifth, even though that player will not really ever see time on defense.

Is it Williams who has won the job, or will they go with only four corners, giving another position an extra player.
