Jonathan Dwyer reportedly arrested for domestic abuse, charged with aggravated assault

Just when things were starting to calm down....another problem.

The Arizona Cardinals can apparently be added to the list of teams with problems with domestic violence. It is being reported by 3TV reporter Tyler Baldwin (in Phoenix) that Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested by Phoenix Police for domestic violence.

After the initial report of the arrest, it was later reported that he was pulled from practice and taken to Phoenix police headquarters for questioning.

CBS Evening news has since tweeted a confirmation that the arrest has in fact taken place. He has been charged with aggravated assault and preventing someone from calling 911.

The arrest would come at the worst time for the team and the league. Between the Ray Rice scandal, the Adrian Peterson child abuse situation and Greg Hardy's situation in Carolina, the league is reeling with abuse off the field by players.

Arizona has already had to deal with linebacker Daryl Washington. He is currently suspended, but under the league's substance abuse policy, but gave a guilty plea to aggravated assault on the mother of his child. He has yet to be punished by the league for the assault.

Thus far, the team has made no announcement or decision. It certainly could move quickly and place Dwyer on the exempt list that has been used for Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy, preventing him from participating in team activities, but still paying him is salary.
