Cardinals vs. 49ers: Quotable moments after the game

A look at some of the postgame statements from both sides

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

I didn't get a chance to write this up before, but I wanted to share some of the better quotes that came from the Cardinals and 49ers after Arizona defeated them 23-14 on Sunday.

Here are some of those quotes:

Bruce Arians on a John Brown mistake from earlier:

"We had him earlier on a similar play, and he went underneath, got his ass chewed out and next time he ran it right. Had he ran it earlier, he would have had a bomb early in about the third play in the game. But that's what rookies do when they learn."

Drew Stanton on John Brown's speed:

"You almost want to tell him to slow down at times because he runs through zones. You're like, 'If it's man, run away from that guy; if it's zone, then find that zone and stay there."

Stanton on why he has clicked with Bruce Arians:

"I don't know. To be honest with you, in Indianapolis, I didn't even know if he liked me."

Stanton on the hit he took when he slid:

"I was just like, 'Really?' I saw this guy and this other guy hit me from behind. I went up to Dan (Skuta) and asked him, 'You're from Michigan, bro. What's going on?' I was talking to him earlier and he was trying to make fun of Michigan State. But he went to Grand Valley State."

Tommy Kelly on the blocked field goal:

"I have a nice red mark right here (pointing to the inside of his forearm). It feels good though. It feels good. It feels real good."

DC Todd Bowles on if the halftime adjustments are part of a chess match:

"There's a chess match before the game, during the game and at halftime."

Larry Foote on how the the "rivalry" compares with the ones back east he knows from playing in the AFC North:

"It's the real deal. I didn't see too many handshakes after the game. They've been dominating us in this series. Something is brewing in this locker room and hopefully it keeps going."

49ers WR Anquan Boldin on why the Niners have lost the last two weeks:

"It's black and white. For me, it's been obvious the last two weeks. The amount of calls that have gone against us and the amount of calls that we've gotten hasn't been close. Every week it's the same thing. We send the tape in. The NFL just reports back, 'We made a mistake.' At the same time, the crap is costing us games. At some point, they need to be held accountable."

Boldin on his penalty:

"Guys had been taking shots at me all game. I told Coach that. I told the ref that three times -- 'I didn't see it. I didn't see it. I'll look for it.' As soon as we do something, wow, they see it. When guys are doing crap to us, 'We didn't catch it.'"
