If Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton is to make his first career postseason start, he will need some help. After not attending practice on Thursday, the team's final full practice before the wild card matchup between Arizona and the Carolina Panthers, he has been ruled out of the game. That means Ryan Lindley and his one career victory will be the one to make his postseason debut on the road against a team that ended the season winning four straight to earn the NFC South title.
Lindley will start and Logan Thomas will be the backup. Stanton will end up being inactive. he is still recovering from his sprained knee ligaments and then a knee scope which might or might not have led to the discovery of an infection.
Stanton was the only Cardinals player who did not practice on Thursday.
Nose tackle Dan Williams, previously out of practice, was upgraded to limited on Thursday with his foot injury, while guard Jonathan Cooper (wrist, knee) and defensive lineman Frostee Rucker were also limited
For Carolina, safety Thomas DeCoud, previously limited with a hamstring injury, was downgraded and did not practice.
