It started last weekend, but I didn't get around to post the signings, but the Arizona Cardinals have begun to fill their 90-man offseason roster and have signed several players to "future contracts" for 2015.
Since the regular season ended, Arizona has added 13 player to such contracts. On Monday, the team announced nine players on the practice squad were added for 2015. Those players are Running back Zach Bauman, tight end Ted Bolser, guard John Fullington, wide receiver Travis Harvey, cornerback Jimmy Legree, tackle Kelvin Palmer, wide receiver Ryan Spadola, cornerback Ross Weaver, and cornerback Darren Woodard.
Notably absent from that list is QB Jake Mathews, who was added to the practice squad neat the end of the season.
Also added on Monday was tackle Tavon Rooks.
Rooks (6-5, 300) spent the entire 2014 season on the Saints practice squad. He was originally selected by the Saints in the sixth round (202nd overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. While at Kansas State, Rooks started 23 of 26 games played in two years and was part of the 2012 team that won the Big 12 Championship and appeared in the Fiesta Bowl
Last week, Arizona announced the addition of tackle Cameron Bradfield, cornerback Rashad Carmichael and guard Antoine McClain.
Bradfield (6-4, 308) originally entered the NFL with the Jaguars as a rookie free agent out of Grand Valley State in 2011 and played in 41 games (27 starts) over four years in Jacksonville. He made a career-high 12 starts in 2012 and then started 11 games in 2013. Bradfield was released by the Jaguars after the first two games in 2014. He then signed with the Falcons on September 30, but did not see game action and was released on November 28.
Carmichael (5-10, 197) was a fourth-round pick (127th overall) of the Texans in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve before playing in six games and recording four tackles in 2012 with Houston. Carmichael began the 2013 season on the Texans practice squad before being signed by the Eagles where he played in 13 games (two starts) and had 11 tackles and four passes defensed. He was with the Eagles for part of the 2014 season, but did not play in a game.
McClain (6-5, 336) spent time on the practice squads of the Saints and Bears in 2014 after being released by the Bills at the end of training camp. The Clemson product entered the league as a rookie free agent with the Ravens in 2012 and spent his entire rookie season on their practice squad. In 2013, he was claimed off waivers by the Raiders following training camp and later went to the Bills as a waiver claim during the regular season, but he did not appear in a game for either team.
