After missing a couple of preview shows, to get ready for the Monday Night Football matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens I was able to get Matthew Steven on, who is the lead editor for Baltimore Beatdown. He joined me for about 30 minutes to talk about the Ravens and the upcoming game.
I asked him about the expectations for the season and learned the Ravens entered the season with the same expectations as the Cardinals -- to compete for the Super Bowl. But then injuries happened. Stevens says it is hard to tell which injury hurt the most, but it was probably Terrell Suggs.
Sine it is the Ravens and the quarterback is Joe Flacco, I had to ask -- how elite is Flacco? He is not, according to Stevens and not even to Ravens fans. But he is very good and had a historically good postseason en route to their Super Bowl title. That's good enough for me.
We know the Ravens sit at 1-5. However, they do a lot of things well. Justin Forsett is among the league leaders in rushing. Flacco is a top 10 QB. The rush defense is in the top 10. They are among the league leaders in sacks. Yet they are 1-5. Stevens tells us how that is.
He talks about matchups that favor the Ravens and one that really has been the issue all year. He also gives the scenarios in which the Ravens win on Monday and the scenarios in which they Cardinals win.
A big thanks to Matt and his willingness to come on the show. I think it was a good one.
Make sure you head on over to Baltimore Beatdown and have some nice, civil conversation.
