The NFL announced its 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2016. Three former Arizona Cardinals players and a former Cardinals coach are on the list. The biggest name -- quarterback Kurt Warner -- perhaps has the best chance of the former Cards to make it in this year.
Warner is again a semi-finalist in his second year of eligibility. He was a finalist last year and was reportedly among the final 10, but didn't quite make the final cut. It is only a matter of time before he is inducted.
Also among the semifinalists are former Steelers and Cardinals offensive lineman Alan Faneca and former Colts and Cardinals running back Edgerrin James.
Both Faneca and James had their best years before coming to Arizona, but James had a key role in the Cardinals Super Bowl run in 2008. He rushed for more than 1100 yards in his first two seasons in Arizona before sharing the offensive load with Tim Hightower in 2008. In his career, he rushed for more than 12,000 yards and was a four-time Pro Bowler and a one-time All Pro.
Faneca could be considered the best guard of this generation. He played 13 years in the league, his final one being in 2010 with the Cardinals. He spent 10 seasons with the Steelers and two with the Jets. He was a Pro Bowler for nine straight seasons and a six-time 1st Team All Pro.
Also a finalist is former Cardinals coach Don Coryell. Coryell coached the Cardinals in the 70s and revolutionized the passing game.
