NFL picks against the spread, Week 9: Taking most of the favorites

Betting advice from a guy.

NFL football means gambling and point spreads. Are you looking for some advice as to where to place your wagers? Here is the right place, as you can see my picks for all Sunday games and Monday's game against the Vegas spread. I started the week with a win, picking the Bengals to win and cover against the Brown. That seemed like easy money.

Last week, I was again very mediocre. I was 7-6-1 against the spread and my lock -- the Seahawks winning and covering over the Cowboys was not a good pick. I am 64-52-3 on the season.

Here are my picks for this week. Any trends are courtesy of the Trend Machine.

Dolphins at Bills (-3): Will the Dolphins recover and play like they were before getting demolished by the Patriots? Well, the Bills get Tyrod Taylor back and Sammy Watkins will play. But I like the intensity and passion the Dolphins have shown since Dan Campbell replaced Joe Philbin. Also, they have had extra time to prepare, as they were on Thursday Night Football last week. Dolpins +3.

Rams at Vikings (-2.5): These are two teams who are very much in the playoff mix and feature two great running backs. The last 10 times the Vikings have been on a three-game winning streak, they have covered. I like that trend and like the Vikes at home. Vikings -2.5.

Redskins at Patriots (-14): Well, this spread is huge, but it is Tom Brady at home. Don't bet against him. That's my rule. Pats -14.

Titans at Saints (-8): The Titans are hapless, but do get Marcus Mariota back. The Saints seem to have found their rhythm. This is easy. Saints -8.

Jaguars at Jets (-8): The Jets defense is tough. I just can't bet on the Jags. They are too inconsistent. They have lost 12 straight road games and are 5-7 ATS. Jets -8.

Raiders at Steelers (-4): The Steelers are coming off a tough loss to the now 8-0 Bengals. The trends say go with Oakland (6-4 ATS as road dogs in Pittsburgh, Big Ben 5-11 ATS in November as home  favorites), but I see them bouncing back. Steelers -4

Packers (-2.5) at Panthers: It is interesting the Packers are favored, though not surprising. They were dominated by a great Denver defense. They are on the road again and facing a very  physical defense. Trends say go with the Packers, but all Cam Newton does these days is win. Panthers +2.5.

Falcons (-7) at 49ers: Blaine Gabbert is starting for the Niners. Enough said. Falcons -7.

Giants (-2.5) at Tampa Bay: I like the Giants here. Eli Manning is 11-5-1 on the road as a favorite. Giants -2.5.

Broncos (-5) at Colts: We saw how the Broncos shut down a great Green Bay offense. The Colts have not been a great offense. The Colts are in trouble. Broncos -5.

Eagles (2.5) at Cowboys: Chip Kelly is 2-5 as a road favorite. The Cowboys are 17-11-1 as home underdogs in the division. That's why I like Dallas, even if they don't know how to win without Tony Romo. Cowboys +2.5.

Bears at Chargers (-4): The trends are split. Jay Cutler has never been favored on Monday Night Football. He is 5-2 ATS. Philip Rivers is 5-3 ATS. Go here with the home team. There should be a lot of points. Chargers -4.
