The Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings face off on Thursday Night Football in what could be a playoff preview. Neither team is at full strength. Arizona has won six straight games. Minnesota is coming off a very embarrassing 38-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
What will be the result of this game? Here are the writing staff predictions:
Jess Root: Cardinals 30, Vikings 16
The Cardinals offense continues to roll, especially with all the injuries on the Vikings defense. However, the Vikings play hard. The second half, though, does them in. Adrian Peterson is strong early, but they don't run the ball much in the second half.
Michael Ferguson: Cardinals 30, Vikings 13
AP held in check for 2nd straight week, Fitz has big day, 2 TDs in Cards romp.
Jesse Reynolds: Cardinals
On a short week and with Minnesota's defense beat up, the Cardinals offense will quickly put up points and again force Minnesota into passing situations in which the Cardinals secondary will have another strong game.
Tyler Derby: Cardinals 26, Vikings 18
The Vikings are coming off a tough loss at home to the Seahawks and will be looking to bounce back. They will be competitive at times, but overall I think Arizona is too talented and will too much to handle. As long as the Cardinals keep AP in check, that will force Bridgewater to throw more, and I am not confident he can win the game.
Skii: Cardinals 27, Vikings 10
The high-scoring offense continues its ways with Palmer finding multiple targets (Floyd and Brown are my guesses), but the Vikings manage to get a touchdown out of Adrian Peterson. Also, Tyrann Mathieu intercepts Teddy Bridgewater to continue his campaign for DPOY.
Robert Norman: Cardinals
In all four losses, Adrian Peterson has been held to under 100 yards rushing. The Cardinals have a pretty good rush defense.
Randy Fields: Cardinals win by 10
The Cardinals defense will focus on shutting down AP and force Teddy to pass on the outside which will open up opportunities for takeaways. The biggest concern Teddy dumping off to the TE position or using his legs in space.
Even the big names agree.
For CBS Sports, Pete Prisco picks a 30-20 Cardinals win.
Either may result in a number of yards being generated by the Vikings offense, but the Cardinals will be able to tighten up in the red zone and keep the Vikings to a number of field goals.
